Toto Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
If you have a Toto kitchen faucet, pot filler, or sink system that’s leaking, dripping, or losing pressure, a full kitchen remodel is rarely the answer. In Fort Lauderdale, we install, repair, and replace Toto kitchen components as part of larger kitchen projects, and a typical kitchen remodel involving Toto fixtures runs $14,000 to $45,000 depending on scope. Most owners discover the problem in the same way: water where it shouldn’t be, a handle that won’t seat, or a sprayer that dribbles instead of sprays. The fix is usually faster and cheaper than people expect once someone who knows Toto parts takes a look.
We’re an independent contractor serving Fort Lauderdale and nearby areas. We’re not affiliated with Toto, but we work with their kitchen fixtures every month and know what fails first in South Florida’s hard water.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto’s kitchen lineup falls into a few families you’ll recognize. The most common we see in Fort Lauderdale homes are the Entrada (entry-level, pull-down sprayer), Grida (high-arc, commercial-style spring), and Vesi (touchless, battery-powered sensor). Pot fillers like the Kalama also show up in higher-end builds, especially in Victoria Park and Rio Vista kitchens.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches a lot of people off guard: Toto’s ceramic disc cartridges are not interchangeable across these lines. An Entrada cartridge will not fit a Grida body, even though both handles look similar from the outside. Before you order anything, look under the sink or behind the sprayer for the small white label with the model number. It’s usually a four-to-six character code, not the full name. If the label is gone, measure the cartridge diameter with a caliper: Entrada cartridges run 35mm, Grida runs 40mm, and Vesi uses a 25mm ceramic insert inside a plastic housing that people break constantly by forcing it.
As for OEM versus aftermarket: Toto OEM cartridges and sprayer heads cost more, typically $40 to $95 for a cartridge and $60 to $160 for a complete sprayer kit. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist, but we’ve seen plastic aftermarket cartridges warp within six months under Fort Lauderdale’s water pressure. For anything that touches drinking water, we recommend OEM. For trim pieces like escutcheons and handle caps, aftermarket is fine.

Signs Your Toto Kitchen Fixture Is Failing
- Water seeps from the base of the spout when the faucet runs. That’s almost always a worn O-ring seal where the spout body meets the deck plate. It starts as a few drops and turns into a puddle because the rubber hardens over time in South Florida’s chlorinated water.
- The pull-down sprayer won’t retract or droops. The counterweight under the sink slid out of position, or the braided hose is catching on a shutoff valve. This is a five-minute fix most of the time, but people live with it for months because they don’t want to lie on their back under the sink.
- You turn the handle and nothing happens, or flow is half what it used to be. The ceramic disc cartridge is either cracked or clogged with mineral scale. Fort Lauderdale’s water is hard enough that we replace twice as many cartridges from scale buildup as from mechanical failure.
- The touchless sensor only works when you wave your hand three times. On Toto Vesi models, that’s a failing solenoid or corrosion on the battery contacts from humidity under the sink. We see this most often in older homes near the Intracoastal where salt air gets into everything.
- Water pressure drops only at the kitchen sink, not other fixtures. The aerator or sprayer diverter is clogged. If you’ve cleaned the aerator and it’s still weak, the diverter inside the spout body has failed and needs replacement, not cleaning.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what Fort Lauderdale homeowners can expect to pay, including labor and parts, when a Toto kitchen fixture needs work as part of a larger kitchen project:
- Toto cartridge replacement: $180 to $320 installed (part runs $40 to $95, labor is the rest)
- Pull-down sprayer head and hose replacement: $220 to $390
- Full Toto faucet swap (new fixture, supply lines, shutoffs if needed): $450 to $950
- Touchless sensor or solenoid replacement (Vesi): $260 to $480
- Full kitchen remodel with Toto fixtures, cabinets, countertops, and backsplash: $14,000 to $45,000 in Fort Lauderdale
Every price we give is written before work starts. Not a verbal estimate that grows. A line-item price with the part cost, the labor, and any permits broken out separately. The workmanship warranty runs 365 days from completion, and if something fails within that year, we come back at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it applies whether we’re swapping a cartridge or gutting the whole kitchen.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things you can safely do yourself. First, unscrew the aerator from the tip of the spout and soak it in white vinegar overnight. That fixes a lot of low-pressure complaints without tools or risk. Second, open the cabinet and look at the braided hoses for kinks or pinching. If the hose is kinked, gently straighten it.
Beyond that, we’d tell you to stop. Removing a Toto cartridge without the right cartridge puller usually destroys the retaining nut, and when you’ve got water lines, you’ve got real potential for property damage if a fitting isn’t seated right. We also see homeowners break the plastic housing on touchless units by prying them open. For anything past the aerator, call us at (754) 354-3720. We’ll tell you what we found, what it takes to fix it, and what it will cost, before we touch a thing.
FAQs

How long do Toto kitchen faucets last in Fort Lauderdale?
With Fort Lauderdale’s hard water and salt air near the coast, a Toto kitchen faucet typically lasts 8 to 12 years before the cartridge, seals, or finish start showing real wear. Coastal homes east of US-1 often see corrosion on exposed brass trim in 5 to 7 years. If your faucet is past year 10 and has multiple issues, replacing the whole fixture is usually smarter than nickel-and-diming replacement parts every six months. Call (754) 354-3720 and we can tell you over the phone whether yours is worth saving.
Can a failed Toto cartridge be repaired instead of replaced?
No. Ceramic disc cartridges are sealed units, and once the discs crack or the seals harden, they can’t be rebuilt. Anyone who offers to “service” one is taking it apart and putting the old parts back in. The honest fix is a new cartridge, which runs $40 to $95 for the part in Fort Lauderdale.
How long does a Toto fixture repair or replacement take?
Most Toto repairs, like a cartridge swap or sprayer replacement, take 60 to 90 minutes on-site. A full faucet replacement runs 2 to 3 hours. If your kitchen remodel includes Toto fixtures along with cabinets, counters, and tile, plan on 4 to 8 weeks depending on scope, plus any permitting time with the city of Fort Lauderdale.
Do you stock Toto parts, or do I have to wait for an order?
We keep common Toto cartridges, sprayer heads, hoses, and aerators on our trucks for the most popular models like Entrada, Grida, and Vesi. Special-order trims and less common pot filler parts take 3 to 5 business days from Toto’s distribution network. We’ll confirm parts availability before we schedule the visit, so you’re not paying a technician to stand around.
