Jerith Fence Installation: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Jerith fence installation in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete section replacement or new run, with most partial repairs landing between $400 and $1,800 depending on how many sections, posts, or gate components failed. We stock Jerith-compatible posts, rails, pickets, and gate hardware, and we can usually match your existing model and finish within a day or two of looking at it. What usually brings a Jerith owner to us starts small: a gate that drags against the paver driveway, a post that leans after a summer storm, or a bottom rail that’s corroded through from sprinkler overspray. By the time you’re reading this, you’ve probably already noticed the problem isn’t fixing itself.

We’re an independent service provider in Fort Lauderdale, not a Jerith dealer, which means we tell you the truth about what’s worth repairing and what’s worth replacing without a sales pitch behind it. Isaac Pruett has seen enough aluminum fence failures across Victoria Park, Rio Vista, and Coral Ridge to know exactly which Jerith components hold up in South Florida salt air and which ones don’t.

Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith has been making aluminum fencing since 1961, and their catalog spans residential series like the Estate, Premier, and Grand Estate lines, plus commercial-grade options. The good news is that Jerith uses a fairly consistent post-and-rail system across most residential lines, which makes matching parts simpler than people expect. The bad news is that “fairly consistent” isn’t “identical,” and a picket from an Estate panel won’t always seat correctly in a Premier rail.

Here’s what actually matters when we identify your part: picket spacing (measured center-to-center, usually 3-7/8″ or 4″ on residential), rail dimensions (Jerith residential rails are typically 1″ x 1-1/2″ or 2″ x 2″ depending on series), and post size (2″ x 2″ or 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ square are the common residential options). If you still have the original paperwork, the series name is on there. If not, we measure on-site. OEM Jerith parts are worth the cost when you’re replacing visible pickets or decorative elements because the finish matches exactly. For buried posts and internal rails, a quality aftermarket 6005-T5 aluminum extrusion with a matching powder coat gets you the same lifespan for less money. One Florida-specific gotcha: Jerith’s standard residential finish is a polyester powder coat that does fine inland but starts showing chalk and salt pitting within 8 to 12 years within a mile of the Intracoastal. If you’re near the water, we recommend upgrading to a marine-grade AAMA 2604 finish on any replacement section.

Signs Your Jerith Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags or won’t latch in the afternoon. Aluminum expands in Florida heat, and a gate that was adjusted in January will bind in August. It’s usually hinge sag or post movement, which is repairable, but if the gate frame itself is twisted, you’re looking at replacement.
  • White chalk rubs off on your hand when you touch the rail. The powder coating is oxidizing. It’s cosmetic at first, but once the coating fails, the aluminum underneath starts pitting and getting structurally thin at stress points.
  • Post leans away from the fence line after rain. In Fort Lauderdale’s sandy soil, a post set in plain concrete can work loose over time. We see it most often on the west side of properties where sprinkler heads soak the post base twice a week.
  • Bottom rail is crusted or flaking within six inches of the ground. That’s sprinkler overspray and lawn chemical contact eating the finish. It’s the most common Jerith failure we see in Fort Lauderdale, and it’s almost always a replacement, not a patch.
  • Pickets wiggle in the rail or a section “rattles” when the wind hits it. The internal clips or screws that Jerith uses to secure pickets can vibrate loose over time. If caught early, it’s a re-secure. If ignored, the pickets score the rail interior and the whole section needs swapping.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Jerith-style aluminum fence installation in Fort Lauderdale, you’re realistically looking at $3,500 to $9,000 for a standard residential yard, which includes posts, rails, pickets, gate hardware, concrete footings, and labor. Partial replacements, like swapping out three damaged sections and resetting two posts, run $400 to $1,800. What drives the range: linear footage, gate count (gates are the most labor-intensive piece), finish upgrade (standard vs. marine-grade powder coat), and what we find under the old post when we pull it. If the concrete footing is cracked and the soil underneath has washed out, we’re digging deeper and pouring fresh. You get a written price before any work starts, on paper, with parts and labor separated so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. Every Jerith fence installation we do in Fort Lauderdale carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something’s not right within a year of completion, we fix it at no cost, and if it needs a second visit for any reason, that visit is free too.

DIY or Call Us?

You can absolutely handle some of this yourself if you’re comfortable with basic tools. Resetting a leaning post by tamping gravel around it, tightening gate hinge screws, replacing a single picket or rail section with a matching Jerith part: those are honest weekend jobs. Where DIY goes wrong is when you’re dealing with a full section replacement on a fence that’s been in the ground for 15 years. The old posts in Fort Lauderdale soil are often set in concrete footings that have to be jackhammered or dug out by hand, and pulling a rotted footing without damaging the adjacent sections takes a feel for it. Aluminum fence isn’t dangerous the way a garage door spring is; the risk here is wasting a Saturday and still ending up with a fence that’s a half-inch out of line and a gate that won’t close. If it looks like more than a picket swap, call us at (754) 354-3720 and we’ll give you a straight answer on whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
