Abodu Roofing: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

If you have an Abodu home in Fort Lauderdale and the roof is leaking, lifting, or showing wear around flashing or seams, we stock Abodu-compatible roofing materials and can typically complete a roof repair for $400 – $1,800, with full roof replacement running $8,000 – $20,000 depending on size and pitch. Most repair jobs are done in a single visit once we confirm the part style and extent of damage. Owners usually find the failure the morning after a hard South Florida downpour: a water spot on the ceiling, a drip near the mini-split chase, or daylight showing through a seam that held fine until the last windstorm.

Call (754) 354-3720

Abodu homes are a specific construction type: factory-built modules, set on site, with roof assemblies that get tied together at the marriage line. The roofing materials themselves are often standard asphalt shingle or standing-seam metal, but the weak points in our experience are the transitions: ridge caps, eave edges, pipe boots, and the flashing where modules meet. Repairing them correctly takes someone who has opened up these roofs before and knows what the factory detail looked like versus what five years of Fort Lauderdale sun and salt air has done to it.

Which Abodu Models This Applies To

A single-story rear room addition with tall windows and a new patio

Abodu builds several housing models in California and has been expanding into other markets. The ones we see in South Florida are almost always the one-bedroom or two-bedroom Accessory Dwelling Unit configurations, typically with a low-slope or gable roof assembly shipped as part of the modular package. The roofing spec varies by model year and delivery batch, so identifying the exact material matters more than identifying the model.

Here is what to check before you call:

  • The shingle or panel profile: Most Abodu roofs we see in Fort Lauderdale use either architectural asphalt shingles or a metal standing-seam panel. Look at the edge of the roof. If it looks like layered asphalt granules, it is a shingle system. If it has vertical ribs and exposed fasteners or hidden clips, it is metal.
  • The underlayment condition: Abodu ships modules with factory-installed underlayment. On some units we have pulled back old shingles and found a synthetic underlayment that was fine. On others, the underlayment was a basic felt that broke down fast in Florida’s UV and humidity. This matters because a shingle swap over failed underlayment is money wasted.
  • The flashing detail at the module seam: This is the Abodu-specific gotcha. The factory flashing at the marriage line is often a lightweight gauge that works fine in California’s climate but corrodes faster in Fort Lauderdale’s salt air. When we replace it, we upgrade to a heavier gauge aluminum or a PVC-coated boot material that holds up better here.

On OEM part versus quality aftermarket: Abodu does not sell roofing parts directly to homeowners in most cases, and warranty claims on the roof typically route through the original installer or the factory. We source our roofing materials from GAF, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning, all of which we stock as standard. Our brand partners for cabinetry and surfaces (KraftMaid, Cambria, Silestone) are not part of this repair, but we mention them to be clear about what we actually work with day to day. If the roof failure is covered under an Abodu warranty, we will tell you that first and point you to the right channel. If it is not, we will give you a written price before any work starts.

Signs Your Abodu Roofing Is Failing

  • Water stains on the ceiling or upper wall corners. This is the most common first sign. In a flat or low-slope Abodu roof, water pools longer after rain, and any small seam failure becomes a slow, persistent leak. The stain may appear feet away from the actual roof breach because water travels along the module seam before it drops.
  • Lifted or curled shingle edges. Fort Lauderdale’s UV index is brutal on asphalt. When shingles start curling at the corners, the adhesive strip has failed. This is normal aging here, not a defect, but it accelerates once it starts. If you see it on more than a few square feet, the roof is entering the replacement window.
  • Rust streaks or white oxidation on metal roof panels. Salt air plus heavy rain cycles equals a corrosion problem that California-built roof metal was not always spec’d for. Rust streaks around fastener heads are the earliest warning. Once the fastener gaskets fail, you get roof leaks at every fastener line, not just one spot.
  • Granules collecting in the gutters or at the base of downspouts. Asphalt shingle roofs shed granules as they age. A little is normal. A cup or more every week is not. This means the shingle surface is degrading faster than expected, and the roof’s remaining life should be assessed by someone who will give you an honest year count, not a sales pitch.
  • Daylight visible from inside the attic or at the eave edge. If you can see light through the roof deck from inside, water has been getting in for a while. This is past the inspection stage and into the repair-now stage.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A second-story addition that matches the existing roofline

In Fort Lauderdale, a focused repair on an Abodu roof runs $400 – $1,800. The spread depends on how much flashing needs to be removed, whether the underlayment under the damaged area is still sound, and whether we are matching shingle color on a full bundle versus a partial patch. A full roof replacement on an Abodu structure runs $8,000 – $20,000, with the low end covering a simple one-story ADU with easy access and the high end covering larger units with complex flashing details, steep pitch, or full tear-off plus new underlayment.

What you get from us, every time:

  • A written price before any work starts, never a verbal estimate that grows later.
  • Parts and labor itemized separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
  • Our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair does not hold or the work is not right within a year, we come back and make it right at no cost to you.

DIY or Call Us?

We are not going to tell you every roof leak is a four-alarm emergency. Here is what you can safely do on an Abodu roof:

  • Inspect from the ground or a ladder set against the eave, not on the roof. Look for lifted shingles, rust streaks, or missing flashing. Do not walk on a low-slope Abodu roof; the decking was not built for foot traffic and a slip on a wet surface is not worth it.
  • Check the gutter and downspout outlets for granules to get a read on how fast the shingles are wearing.
  • Mark the interior stain with painter’s tape and check it after the next rain to see if the leak is active or old.

Here is where DIY goes wrong: climbing onto the roof to caulk a seam, moving shingles, or attempting a patch over the module marriage line. You can make the leak worse, you can damage the factory waterproofing layer, and you are doing all of it at height on a surface that gets slick in a Fort Lauderdale afternoon storm. Roof work is also when the real safety conversation starts; we carry the right fall protection and know how to work around power lines and eave edges that most homeowners should not be near with a tool belt on. If the repair is inside a single shingle or a pipe boot and you are comfortable on a ladder, fine. If the leak is anywhere near the module seam or the roof edge, call us at (754) 354-3720. We will come out, diagnose it, and give you a written price. If it ends up being an Abodu warranty issue, we will tell you that too, and you will not owe us anything for the diagnostic.
