Oldcastle Roofing: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Oldcastle-compatible roofing parts across Fort Lauderdale, with most replacements running between $400 and $1,800 installed depending on what failed and how much decking or underlayment came with it. If you’re standing in the driveway staring up at a lifted shingle, a water stain spreading across the bedroom ceiling, or granules collecting at the base of your downspouts, you’ve found the right page. Here’s what you need to know about Oldcastle parts before you pick up the phone.
Most Fort Lauderdale homeowners discover an Oldcastle roofing problem one of three ways: a leak shows up after an afternoon thunderstorm, a post-storm inspection reveals missing or broken shingles, or an insurance adjuster flags the roof for age. We’ve seen all three more times than we can count. The good news is that Oldcastle’s product lines are well documented, which means matching the right part to the right roof is a straightforward job when you know what to look for.
Which Oldcastle Models This Applies To

Oldcastle roofing products span several categories, and the replacement part you need depends on which system was installed. The most common we see in Fort Lauderdale are Oldcastle’s architectural asphalt shingle lines, their concrete and clay tile systems (including barrel and flat profile tiles), and the underlayment and ridge components that go with them. If your home was built between the late 1990s and the mid-2010s in neighborhoods like Victoria Park, Rio Vista, or Coral Ridge, there’s a solid chance you’ve got Oldcastle product overhead.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people don’t know: Oldcastle tile roofing is not interchangeable tile-for-tile across all manufacturers. Tile dimensions, the interlocking channel design, and the nail-hole placement vary between makers, and a tile from another brand may look close but will not seat correctly. On shingle roofs, the critical piece is matching the shingle’s exposure width and the adhesive strip pattern. For both systems, we identify the exact part by checking the underside of a removed tile for the manufacturer stamp, or by measuring the tab exposure on a shingle. OEM Oldcastle parts are the safest match, and quality aftermarket equivalents are fine for underlayment and fasteners, but we do not recommend aftermarket tiles on an Oldcastle tile roof. The risk of a poor seat is too high for a $600 repair to turn into a $12,000 re-roof in two years.
We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Oldcastle, but we work with their parts regularly and know their product lines well enough to match what you have.

Signs Your Oldcastle Roofing Is Failing
- Granules in the gutters or at downspout bases. Asphalt shingles shed granules as the sun’s UV breaks down the asphalt matrix. Fort Lauderdale’s 2,500+ annual sunshine hours accelerate this. Some shedding is normal after installation, but consistent, heavy granule loss means the shingle’s waterproofing layer is exposed and aging fast.
- Ceiling stains or peeling paint under the roofline. Water intrusion through a cracked tile or lifted shingle works its way down over hours, not minutes. A tan or yellow ceiling stain is often the first visible sign that an Oldcastle tile has cracked at the interlock, or that a field shingle has a tear along the nail line.
- Cracked, chipped, or missing tiles after a storm. Impact from flying debris during a South Florida squall is the leading cause of Oldcastle tile damage we see. A missing barrel tile leaves the underlayment exposed, and that underlayment is not designed to function as a primary roof surface for long.
- Curling or lifting shingle edges. When the adhesive strip on an architectural shingle gives out, the corners lift. Heat, humidity, and wind from the Atlantic trade winds will work those lifted edges until water gets underneath. This is more common on roofs past the 12-year mark.
- Daylight showing through the attic decking. During the day, from inside the attic, small points of light through the decking mean gaps in the roof assembly. We’ve found everything from missing shingle tabs to shifted tiles to nail pops that rusted out. Any light penetration is a water penetration waiting for the next rain.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Lauderdale, most Oldcastle roofing part replacements fall into these ranges:
- Single tile replacement: $600 – $1,200
- Shingle repair (3 – 10 shingles): $400 – $900
- Ridge cap repair: $500 – $1,500
- Underlayment patch (with tile reset): $800 – $1,800
- Full ridge replacement on a standard Fort Lauderdale home: $1,200 – $2,500
- Full roof replacement (Oldcastle-compatible shingle or tile system): $8,000 – $20,000
What drives the range? Access matters most. A single-story hip roof in Victoria Park with a gentle pitch is a faster, safer job than a two-story tile roof in Rio Vista with a steep barrel profile. Material pricing is the second driver: OEM Oldcastle tiles cost more than off-the-shelf field shingles, but they match what you have, which matters aesthetically on a visible roofline. Every quote we give in Fort Lauderdale includes the part, labor, fasteners, sealant, and a written line-item breakdown before any work starts. We don’t do verbal estimates that grow later. The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something we installed isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
If you’re comfortable on a ladder and just want to identify the problem, check your gutters for granules, look for visible tile cracks from the ground, and scan the roof line for lifted edges after a storm. Those observations help us quote faster. What we do not recommend is walking a clay or concrete tile roof. Oldcastle tile is brittle, the surface gets slick with mildew from Florida humidity, and a cracked tile is a genuine fall hazard. On the shingle side, lifting and re-sealing a shingle incorrectly leaves an open nail hole, and you’ve made the leak worse without solving it. Roof bolts and safety harnesses are not worth buying for one repair.
The honest split: you can diagnose, we should repair. We carry common Oldcastle-compatible field tiles, ridge caps, architectural shingles, fasteners, and underlayment on our trucks, so most repairs get done in a single visit. Call (754) 354-3720 and we’ll tell you what we found, what it takes to fix it, and what it will cost, before we touch a thing.
FAQs

Asphalt shingles typically last 15 to 20 years in South Florida’s UV and heat, while properly installed Oldcastle clay or concrete tile can last 40 years or more, though the underlayment beneath it usually needs replacement around the 20-year mark. Plan on inspecting the underlayment at least every 10 years, because that’s the layer that actually keeps water out. Call (754) 354-3720 for an inspection quote.
Single cracked tiles and individual shingles can almost always be repaired without touching the rest of the roof, as long as the surrounding roof deck and underlayment are still solid. If water has been getting under the surface for months, the repair area expands, but most calls we get in Fort Lauderdale are straightforward part swaps. Call (754) 354-3720 for an exact scope after a visual check.
A single-tile or small shingle repair usually takes one to three hours on site, including setup, removal, replacement, and cleanup. Larger ridge or underlayment jobs can run a full day. We’ll give you the time window in writing with your quote before we start.
We keep common Oldcastle-compatible field tiles, ridge caps, architectural shingles, fasteners, and underlayment on our trucks for Fort Lauderdale jobs. Rare tile profiles or discontinued colors may require a day or two to source. Call (754) 354-3720 and let us match what’s on your roof.
