Belgard Bathroom Remodeling: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
Belgard bathroom remodeling in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on the size of the space and what’s behind the walls once we open them up. Most homeowners call us after a Belgard paver or wall product in or around the bathroom has shifted, cracked, or started letting water through where it shouldn’t. We stock Belgard-compatible materials and match existing finishes, so you’re not ripping out a whole bathroom over one failed section.
Here’s what we see most often in Fort Lauderdale bathrooms: a Belgard paver floor in an indoor-outdoor shower has started to sink on one side, or a Belgard wall panel behind a freestanding tub has pulled away from the substrate and moisture is getting in. The salt air and humidity here accelerate what would be a ten-year product in a drier climate down to about five or six before real problems show up. If that sounds like your bathroom, you’re in the right place.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

When people say “Belgard” in a bathroom context, they’re usually talking about one of three product lines. The first is Belgard pavers used as shower floors or bathroom flooring, most often the Catalina or Mega-Arbel series in a smooth or tumbled finish. The second is Belgard wall block used as a decorative bathroom feature wall or a wet-area surround, typically BelAir Wall or Weston Wall units. The third is Belgard’s porcelain paver line, which a lot of Fort Lauderdale homes use for indoor-outdoor transitions where a bathroom opens onto a paver patio or pool deck.
The compatibility gotcha: Belgard paver thickness varies by series. Mega-Arbel runs 60mm, while Catalina in a pedestrian application is usually 40mm. If a previous installer used the wrong thickness for the substrate, you’ll see lippage (one paver sitting higher than its neighbor) within the first two years. That’s the most common call we get in Victoria Park and Rio Vista. We identify the exact series by checking the underside of a pulled paver for the Belgard mold stamp, then match thickness and color lot before we quote. Aftermarket equivalents exist for some Belgard lines, but in a wet bathroom application, we almost always recommend OEM Belgard product. The aftermarket often skips the factory-edge treatment that helps prevent chipping at grout lines, and you’ll see that show up within six months in a humid room.

Signs Your Belgard Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Pavers rock or shift when you step on them. The sand or mortar bed underneath has washed out or compacted unevenly. In a shower floor, this usually means water is finding its way past the base and eroding the setting bed from below.
- Efflorescence (white chalky residue) that keeps coming back. Moisture is moving through the paver and evaporating at the surface, leaving mineral salts behind. This is common in Fort Lauderdale bathrooms where humidity sits above seventy percent most of the year. Cleaning it off doesn’t fix the water path.
- Grout or joint sand disappearing between pavers. Water is channeling through the joints instead of across the surface. Once enough joint material washes out, the pavers start to grind against each other and chip at the edges.
- A wall panel or block pulling away from the wall behind it. The adhesive or mechanical anchor has failed, usually because moisture got behind the panel. You’ll see a visible gap at the top edge first, then hear a hollow sound when you tap the panel.
- Black or green staining along the bottom edge of Belgard wall block. That’s biological growth from constant moisture wicking up through the block. It tells us the capillary break at the base was never installed or has failed, and the block is absorbing water around the clock.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Lauderdale, a Belgard-focused bathroom remodeling project runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed. Where you land depends mostly on scope. A paver shower floor replacement in a standard 3×5 shower with demolition and new setting bed runs $4,500 to $12,000. A full bathroom gut that includes Belgard paver flooring, a feature wall, new vanity, fixtures, and waterproofing lands in the $18,000 to $28,000 range because we’re rebuilding the waterproofing layers, not just resurfacing.
Every written price includes demolition of the failed section, the new Belgard or Belgard-compatible material, setting bed or substrate rebuild, waterproofing as needed, grout or joint sand, clean-up, and haul-away. Nobody adds a fuel surcharge or a “disposal fee” on the back end. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything on the install is not right within a year of completion, we fix it at no cost. That’s written on every proposal, not spoken as a sales line.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely pull one loose paver and look at what’s underneath. That tells you a lot. If you see a solid mortar bed with no cracks, you might get away with re-bedding that single paver. If you see washed-out sand, pooled water, or a bed that crumbles when you poke it, stop there. That’s a substrate failure, and putting the paver back is just hiding the problem. Belgard wall products in wet areas are also not a weekend project. Getting the waterproofing wrong behind a wall block means mold inside the cavity, and you won’t see it until it’s bad.
We tell you what we found, what it takes to fix it, and what it will cost, before we touch a thing. If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call (754) 354-3720 and describe the symptom. If it sounds minor, it might not need a visit. If it sounds structural, we’ll schedule an estimate and you’ll get a written price before any tool comes off the truck.
FAQs

In an interior bathroom with proper waterproofing, Belgard pavers can last fifteen to twenty years. In an indoor-outdoor bathroom, a pool bath, or any application exposed to coastal humidity and salt air, expect to see real signs of wear at five to seven years, especially at the grout lines and substrate edges. Call (754) 354-3720 for an honest assessment of your specific setup.
Yes, if the failure is isolated to a few pavers and the setting bed is still solid. No, if the substrate has washed out, cracked, or if water has been traveling under multiple pavers. We give you a straight answer after pulling one paver and looking, and the repair quote reflects what we actually find, not a worst-case guess.
A paver shower floor replacement runs three to five working days, including waterproofing and cure time for the setting bed. A full bathroom remodel with Belgard flooring and a feature wall runs three to six weeks, depending on what we find behind the drywall and whether you’re changing the footprint. You’ll get a schedule in writing with your price.
We keep a working inventory of common Belgard Catalina and Mega-Arbel pavers, joint sand, and the setting materials we use most often on Fort Lauderdale jobs. For out-of-production colors or discontinued series, we’ll source the match through our Belgard supplier network. If we also carry companion lines like KraftMaid vanities, Cambria tops, or Silestone surfaces for your project, we’ll mention it, but only if it matters to what you’re doing.
