Atlas Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
If your Atlas driveway or paver surface is cracking, shifting, or separating at the joints, we stock and install compatible replacement pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and base materials across Fort Lauderdale. Typical installed repair costs for Atlas paver systems here run $350 – $2,800 depending on how much surface area failed and whether the base layer underneath needs rebuilding. Most Fort Lauderdale homeowners discover the problem after a heavy summer storm: pavers sink in one corner, water pools where it used to drain, or a section of the border pops loose against the curb.
What we see most often in Fort Lauderdale is not a failed paver itself but a failed base underneath it. Atlas pavers are dense concrete units, but they only perform as well as the compacted sub-base they sit on. Our sandy, high-water-table soil shifts more than most, and when the base washes out, the pavers above follow.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas produces paver lines in varying thicknesses and face dimensions, and the replacement part has to match both. The most common residential Atlas pavers in Fort Lauderdale are 60mm thick for driveways and 50mm for patios and walkways, typically in a 4×8 or 6×9 face size. You’ll find the product code on the underside of the paver if you can lift one out, or stamped on the original order paperwork if you kept it.
One compatibility gotcha we run into weekly: Atlas changed the chamfer profile on some of its paver edges around 2019. Older pavers have a sharper bevel, newer ones a softer one. If you patch a 2017 installation with a 2023 replacement, the joints will read differently under daylight even if the color code matches. We keep discontinued and current Atlas profiles on hand for exactly this reason. That said, if your original color line is no longer produced, a quality aftermarket paver from a U.S. manufacturer can blend well, though the color will never be a perfect match. For a seamless repair, we usually recommend replacing a full section rather than spot-patching one or two units.
Mason Remodeling Co Fort Lauderdale is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with Atlas. We also stock and install compatible parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone systems.

Signs Your Atlas Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- Edge pavers separating from the border restraint. The plastic or concrete edging that holds the outer row in place has cracked or pulled away, usually because it wasn’t spiked deeply enough at install. Once the border goes, the whole field starts migrating outward, and you’ll see a widening gap along the driveway edge.
- Pavers sinking in a low spot after rain. In Fort Lauderdale, this almost always means the sand base underneath has washed out through a gap in the edging or into a poorly drained subsoil layer. Fixing it requires lifting the affected area, recompacting the base, and reinstalling, not just topping off the joint sand.
- Joint sand washing out and weeds sprouting between pavers. When the polymeric sand fails, you’ll see trails of sand on the driveway after each rainfall. This is the earliest warning sign. Left unfixed, paver movement follows within a year.
- Hairline cracks across multiple pavers in a line. A single cracked paver is usually a drop impact or manufacturing defect. A line of cracks across several units means the base settled unevenly beneath them, and the pavers are now bearing load they were never designed to carry.
- Standing water that takes over an hour to drain. Atlas pavers are laid with a slight pitch to move water off the surface. If you’re getting puddles that linger, the pitch has changed because the base has moved, and the fix is structural, not cosmetic.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Lauderdale, Atlas paver repair pricing breaks down like this:
- Spot repair (1 – 5 pavers, no base rebuild): $350 – $800
- Edge restraint and border rebuild (up to 20 linear feet): $600 – $1,400
- Section lift, base recompaction, and relay (up to 200 sq ft): $1,200 – $2,800
- Full paver driveway installation: $7,000 – $18,000
Every repair we do in Fort Lauderdale includes lifting the failed paver or section, inspecting and rebuilding the base layer where it has washed out or compacted unevenly, replacing any damaged units with Atlas-compatible matches, reinstalling edge restraints, and sweeping fresh joint sand. You get a written price before any work begins, and the work is covered for 365 days from the completion date. If a repair fails within that year, we return and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
For a single cracked paver with no surrounding movement, a homeowner can carefully lift it, add a thin layer of sand, and set a replacement. You’ll need a paver extractor or two flat pry bars, and the replacement has to match the thickness and face dimensions exactly. That’s a reasonable Saturday project for someone comfortable with hand tools.
Where DIY goes wrong is any repair that involves the base layer. If pavers are sinking, the edges are spreading, or water is pooling, lifting pavers without rebuilding and recompacting the base means the problem returns within months. In Fort Lauderdale’s sandy soil, a half-fixed base is often worse than the original failure because it creates a new low point that catches even more water. If you’re seeing movement, not just a cracked unit, call us at (754) 354-3720 before you start pulling pavers. We tell you what we found, what it takes to fix it, and what it will cost, before we touch a thing.
FAQs

Atlas pavers themselves typically last 25 – 35 years in Florida’s climate, but the base beneath them often needs attention at the 10 – 15 year mark. UV exposure fades surface color gradually, and the salt air near Fort Lauderdale’s coastal zones can accelerate surface wear on darker colors. Call (754) 354-3720 if you’d like us to inspect the base while it’s still early enough to avoid a full relay.
In most cases, only the affected section needs lifting and relaying, not a full replacement. Individual cracked pavers can be swapped if the base underneath is sound. Match problems arise when the original Atlas color line is discontinued, and we’ll tell you plainly if a seamless match is realistic before we order anything.
A spot repair or edge rebuild is typically completed in a single day. A section lift with base recompaction takes one to two days depending on how much material has to be brought in and how deep the washout goes. We schedule around Fort Lauderdale’s afternoon rain patterns when we can, since joint sand needs about two hours of dry weather to set properly.
We keep the most common Fort Lauderdale Atlas profiles and colors in our local inventory, including 60mm driveway units and 50mm patio pavers. Discontinued colors and unusual face sizes are ordered direct and typically arrive within a week. Call (754) 354-3720 and we’ll confirm what we can match before you commit to a repair.
