Schluter Roofing: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Schluter-compatible roofing trim, edge profiles, and waterproofing components across Fort Lauderdale and Broward County, with most replacement jobs running $400 – $1,800 installed depending on the part and roof access. The most common call we get starts the same way: a homeowner notices rust staining on a stucco wall below the roofline, or a drip line forming at the eave edge during afternoon storms. That’s usually the Schluter metal profile at the roof-to-wall transition giving out, and it rarely announces itself any louder than a brown streak. We can usually have a technician out within a day or two to match the profile, quote the work in writing, and get it fixed right.
Which Schluter Models This Applies To
Schluter roof profiles fall into a few families, and knowing which one you have saves a lot of back-and-forth. The Schluter BARA and BAR series handle roof-edge and wall-termination duties, with BARA being the heavier-gauge aluminum used at drip edges and parapet caps. Schluter also makes RONDEC and JOLLY profiles more common in tile work, but when a Fort Lauderdale roof is involved, you’re almost always dealing with BARA or an older Schluter roof-drain assembly. Look for the Schluter stamp on the underside of the metal or along the exposed leg of the profile. If it’s painted, match the color in daylight, not under a porch light. Fort Lauderdale salt air oxidizes the factory finish more aggressively than Schluter’s own warranty testing suggests, so if your profile is more than eight to ten years old, plan on replacing the whole run rather than patching a section. Aftermarket equivalents exist, but with Schluter, the aluminum alloy and coating thickness are part of how it holds up, and we order OEM unless a profile is discontinued.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Schluter Roofing Is Failing
- Rust weeping down a stucco or painted wall. The Schluter profile’s galvanized or powder-coated layer has worn through, often near the fasteners first. Once rust starts, it travels fast during Fort Lauderdale’s wet season, and that stain is the metal telling you the waterproofing edge is compromised.
- A drip line at the inside corner of a parapet or roof-to-wall seam. Water is getting behind the Schluter profile instead of running over the front of it. This usually means the sealant bond between the profile and the roofing membrane has failed, not that the metal itself is bad.
- Loose, lifted, or rattling sections of roof-edge trim. Schluter profiles rely on mechanical fasteners at regular spacing. Wind loading on a Fort Lauderdale roof, especially within a few miles of the coast, can work fasteners loose over time and let the leading edge curl upward.
- Visible daylight under the profile at the drip edge. The profile has pulled away from the fascia or sheathing. When you can see a gap while standing on the ground, water has already been getting to the wood for a while, even if you can’t see the damage yet.
- White chalky residue on the metal surface. That’s the coating breaking down under UV and salt exposure. It doesn’t mean the profile is dead yet, but it does mean the finish has failed, and the underlying aluminum is next.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a standard single-story Schluter roof-edge or roof-to-wall profile replacement in Fort Lauderdale, expect to pay $400 – $1,800 installed. The spread depends on three things: how many linear feet need to come out, whether your roof is one story or two, and whether the substrate underneath is sound. Our pricing includes removal of the old Schluter profile, inspection of the sheathing and membrane at the transition, installation of the new profile with correct fasteners and sealant, and cleanup. Because a roof leak in Fort Lauderdale is not something you want to gamble on, every Schluter replacement we do is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work is not right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you. If we find rotted sheathing behind the Schluter profile, we tell you what we found, what it takes to fix it, and what it will cost, before we touch a thing. No surprise invoices.
DIY or Call Us?
If you’re reasonably handy, you can inspect your Schluter roofing yourself. Get on a ladder and check the profile at every fastener point for rust, lift, or broken sealant. That’s a safe, useful check. What you should not do is attempt to remove and reinstall a roof-edge profile yourself, because you’re working at height, on a roof edge, with metal and sealant, and the waterproofing detail has to be right the first time. Isaac Pruett has spent the better part of two decades doing remodeling work across South Florida, and he will tell you straight: the Schluter profiles that fail twice are almost always the ones that got DIY’d once first. If you want this handled once and handled right, call us at (754) 354-3720 and we’ll match the profile, price it in writing, and get it done.
FAQs

In Fort Lauderdale’s salt air and intense sun, a Schluter roof profile typically gives you 10 to 20 years before the coating fails and the metal begins to corrode. Coastal homes within a mile or two of the beach often see the shorter end of that range. If your profile is past ten years old and showing any of the signs above, replacement is cheaper than waiting for the sheathing behind it to rot. Call (754) 354-3720 for a free estimate on your specific situation.
In most cases, no. Once the coating has failed and rust has started at the fasteners or leading edge, patching sealant over it is a temporary fix that will not hold through a Fort Lauderdale wet season. The metal itself is compromised. If the profile is still in good condition and only the sealant line has pulled away, a targeted reseal can work. Call (754) 354-3720 and describe what you’re seeing, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
Most single-story Schluter roof-edge or wall-transition replacements are finished in one day, including removal of the old profile, substrate inspection, installation, and cleanup. Two-story homes or full parapet runs may take an extra day. We give you a written time-to-completion estimate along with the price, so you know what to expect before we start.
We stock the most common Schluter BARA and BAR aluminum profiles and matching sealant on our trucks, so most Fort Lauderdale roof replacements can be completed on the first visit. If your profile is a less common size or a discontinued color, we order the OEM part and schedule the install once it arrives. We also stock parts for other brands we carry, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone, so if you have a multi-part project, we can often handle it in one visit.
If your Schluter roof profile is showing its age, don’t wait for the stain to reach the ceiling. Call (754) 354-3720 today to schedule a free estimate. We’ll confirm who is coming by name and photo before the visit, put the price in writing before any work starts, and stand behind the install for a full year.
